Sarah McCarthyNEW STAFF We are pleased to announce the hiring of new staff members at West Lincoln Public Library! Welcome to Loraine MacDonald (formerly Drilling) in her new role as Supervisor, Library Administrative Services and Sarah McCarthy in the role of Supervisor, Library Programs. We would also like to welcome our new Public Service Associates. Please take a moment to say "hi" the next time you visit any of our Branches.

GOOD FOOD BOX Place your orders for fresh and affordable produce either in person at the Smithville Branch (cash only) or online at www.linksforgreenerlearning.org. Purchase a large box for $22 or a smaller box for $17. Orders are taken July 4 to 13 and August 1 to 10. Delivery dates are July 20 and August 17.

TD Summer Reading Club Registration is Open!

Kids! Register now for our TD Summer Reading Club by visiting any branch. Receive your TDSCR Reader or Pre-Reader booklet and start recording the books you’re reading this summer. Visit the library every week to log your titles and receive incentives to continue your summer reading. Prizes awarded for most books read! See page 2 for information about all our child and teen summer programs. Register today!

Once Upon a Storytime... Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. from July 2 to August 27 Visit us every Saturday morning to hear a story and complete a related fairy tale-themed craft. Recommended for toddlers and preschoolers. Registration is required.


Dragons, Unicorns and Fairies, Oh My! Tuesdays at 2:00 p.m. from July 5 to August 23 This year’s TD Summer Reading Club theme is Fairy Tales, Folklore, Myths & Legends. Come to one or to all of our weekly craft programs where you’ll hatch a dragon egg, make unicorn sugar poop cookies, and create a fairy garden. Recommended for kids ages 6 to 10. Registration is required. Space is limited.


Squires’ Training for Extreme Adventures in Medieval (Times) Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. from July 6 to August 24 sleeping dragon A science, technology, engineering, art, and math myth and legend themed program that is recommended for children ages 8 to 12. Create your own coat of arms, a magic potion, make up some tall tales, and so much more! Registration is required.

Teen Programs


Teen Titans Thursdays @ 3:00 p.m. from July 7 to August 25 Visit the library every week to participate in some pretty amazing fantasy-themed activities, like creating your own dice potion bottle, a dragon egg and dragon eyes. Registration is preferred as space is limited.

Cosplay Club Mondays at 3:30 p.m. from July 4 to August 22 (except August 1) Learn how to create your own unique cosplay characters, costumes and props.

Adult Programs

Knitting Circle Wednesdays @ 1:30 p.m. Beginner and skilled knitters and crocheters are invited to attend this weekly social knitting group. Space is limited. Registration is required.

Smithville Stitchers Wednesday July 6, Thursday July 7, Saturday July 9, Wednesday August 3, Thursday August 4 & Saturday August 6 @ 10:30 a.m. Beginner and skilled quilters are invited to attend this monthly friendship-building program. Space is limited.


Indigenous Healing Garden Visit West Lincoln’s only Indigenous Healing Garden during Wellandport Branch’s open hours to spend some reflective time among the native plant species planted there, play the drum, contemplate the 13 stumps, 28 stones, and other garden symbols. A garden map is available upon request.


Seed Library Did you know that you can borrow rare, heritage and/or organic seeds from the library? Seeds are free to borrow, we just ask that you return some harvested (rare, heritage or organic seeds) in the Fall. There is a limit of 3 packets of seeds per person, or 6 packets per household.

Seed Savers Club Tuesday July 12 @ 6:30 p.m. Bee Inspired Farm Visit. Members will meet at the Library and carpool to the farm (just minutes away). Tuesday August 9 @ 6:30 p.m. Processing and Preserving Food. Members are encouraged to bring their favourite preserving techniques and recipes!

The Seed Savers Club meets the second Tuesday of every month and is open to anyone interested in sharing knowledge about growing food.
