1,000 Books Before Kindergarten - All Branches

Ongoing
Attention parents and caregivers: join this growing movement to read every child 1,000 books before kindergarten. Reading 20 books per month to your infant/toddler/child teaches vocabulary, introduces the connection between pictures and words and creates lasting bonds. Register at any branch to begin your journey. We‘ll keep a log of the number of books read and offer incentives along the way.

Afterschool Arts & Crafting - Smithville Branch

Explore the world of art and crafting while meeting new friends in this social afterschool arts and crafts program. Recommended for ages 6 to 10. Registration required.

Bouncing Babies - Smithville Branch

Music & Movement Storytime - Smithville Branch

Thursdays - 10:30am; March 20 to April 24; May 15 to June 19
A 6-week story time program for toddlers that incorporates movement games alongside early literacy to help develop better physical awareness, improve gross and fine motor skills and learn how to navigate social movement relationships. Recommended for ages 3 to 5. Registration required.

Make It Mondays - Smithville Branch

Mondays - 6:00pm; April 7, May 12 and June 9
A monthly kid-friendly tech literacy program featuring our MakerSpace and GamerSpace equipment. Learn how to use the 3D Printer, Cricut Maker 3, VR headsets and more to create out of this world projects! Recommended for ages 8 to 12. Registration required.

Caistor Kids - Caistorville Branch

Alternating Saturdays - 2:00pm; April 19 to June 28
Come and spend the afternoon reading stories followed by a crafting activity. Recommended for ages 4-6. Registration required.

Tinker Time - Wellandport Branch

Stop in and visit PFlag Niagara to learn about what services they offer and how you can be an ally this PRIDE month. PFlag will be here with an information table from 10:30-12:30pm and our button maker will be out all day for you to make a PRIDE button in show of support. Drop-in.

Living Art - Wellandport Branch

Spend some quality time with mom and learn how to create living wall art using preserved moss, sticks and other natural elements to give your space a breath of fresh air. Registration required. Space is limited. Recommended for ages 8+

Presented by registered dietician Dayna Caves from the Smithville Medical Centre. In April we‘ll be focusing on improving your health span and in May we’ll be taking a look at toddler/preschooler recipes and nutrition. In June we’ll be preparing for next school year by looking at how to pack healthy lunches your child will love. Registration required.

The Cookbook Clique - Smithville Branch

Saturdays - 2:00pm; April 19, May 31 & June 28
Have a passion for food? Join the clique! Using a different cookbook every month we’ll challenge ourselves to make something new. In April we’ll be baking blackberry maple breakfast cake with maple coconut whipped cream from Plantcakes by Lindsay Sung. In May we’ll be making bacon and onion perogies from The Ultimate Cookbook by Canadian Living, and in June we’ll be making ranch turkey burgers and crispy zucchini fries from Country Living’s Farmhouse Kitchen Cookbook. Registration required. Cost is $10 per person, per program (cash only). Please bring a reusable container large enough to fit two servings.

Get your taxes done for free through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP). People with a modest income and a simple tax situation can get their tax returns done by volunteers for no cost. Registration is open. Clinic dates are available on our website. By appointment only.

The craft club is a 2-hour monthly program that teaches a new project each month to showcase the amazing crafting ability of the Cricut Maker 3 and Cricut Design Space. April will feature fabric hair accessories, and in May we’re making custom pet collars. In June we‘ll be decorating terracotta planters. No experience is necessary. Registration required.
